Getting there
From Cancun, take the 180 highway and follow the route to Kantunilkin and then to Chiquila, the small port where water-taxis depart to the beautiful island of Holbox. These "water-taxis" are operated by local fishermen and the cruise lasts 30 minutes. The last boat departs at about 5:30 pm. Holbox is located in the gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean sea, the combination of this nutrient laden ocean currents, provide the optimum conditions for marine life and excellent fish catching opportunities.
The most prevalent catches are shrimp, shark, octopus and a large and rich variety of fish
You can easily arrange tours and excursions with local people and we recommend the Yalahau lagoon, Isla Pajaros or Cabo Catoche. In season, you can admire huge communities of Flamingos.
